EIS transferred the trademark rights for the name Trade Wars 2002 to Realm Interactive, a startup company in Phoenix, AZ.  This transaction gives Realm the right to develop future games using the Trade Wars name.  The current product, Trade Wars 2002, is still owned by EIS and actively supported.  Realm has begun work on a spin-off of the classic game, and I have been asked to participate in the new development.  You can check on the progress at the Trade Wars:  Dark Millennium web site.

On the 3rd anniversary of Martech's release of Trade Wars 2002 v3, I would like to announce that EIS has purchased all rights to Trade Wars 2002.  In the future, all registrations and support will be handled through EIS.  I have taken possession of Martech's customer base, and I intend to honor the Martin's promise of free upgrades from all previous versions to TWv3.   I will continue to support TWv3 in an attempt to release a final, stable version.  It is also my hope to begin development of a modern, client/server version of the game, not as a replacement of the classic, but as the next step in the long evolution of the game.

Thank you all for your support of Trade Wars.  If interest continues, perhaps it will continue to evolve well beyond its namesake, 2002.  Funny how that date seemed so distant back in the mid eighties...

EIS released v1.00 of the Trade Wars Game Server, a platform for hosting multiplayer Trade Wars 2002 without a BBS.  This was an early release to satisfy those who couldn't wait for the product to be completed to my satisfaction (if that's ever possible ;).  Development for TWGSv1.01 has continued from that day and is hopefully nearing completion as of the time of this page update.

This date also marks the beginning of EIS.  All of my previous work on Trade Wars had been done under contract to Martech Software, Inc.

Trade Wars 2002 v3 was released.  This was my first effort with Trade Wars.  I started with the Trade Wars 2002 v2 source code and created a multiplayer version of the game.  This has proved more difficult than I had hoped, and revisions continue as I attempt to stabilize the once single-player game in its new multiplayer mode.
